Akebi Feedback #127

would be great if you add the romanji of the words too.
other than that this application is perfect.

Two in a row! As I said below, this is a bit of a low priority at the moment. I think it might clutter things up a bit. But I'll look into it at some later stage. Also: sorry for the very late response, I've been pretty busy...

Akebi Feedback #126

hey, I am a beginner learning for the Japanese language. I have a question regarding the katakana and hiragana on this app. is it perhaps possible to use an extra romaji explanation? so I could also use it to learn the katakana. so far I tried other apps but none of them uses romaji. I can then look up a kanji like food and then see the romaji and the hiragana above it. I do understand this is a app for kanji which is more difficult than learning hiragana and katakana, but for me it would help with remembering the symbols.
best regards Danny

Hi Danny! Akebi mainly targets people that have enough experience with the language to be able to read hiragana/katakana. I feel that adding such romaji would clutter up the dialog quite significantly, however, after I've fixed up most of the other pressing issues, I'll try to look into it. Thanks! Also: sorry for the very late response, I've been pretty busy...

Hello! Really nice app. The search funtions are great. Only thing that bothers me: the JLPT is now 5 levels, i think you should fix that.

OK, I'll look into it. Thanks for the kind words! Also: sorry for the very late response, I've been kinda busy!

As I use this app more and more I am starting to feel the lack of cloud data backup more. It makes the app less useful as a study method app when switching between tablet and phone. Also I lost my list data somehow recently and so lost all my study history. Even manual backup to Google Drive would be useful.
Thanks

There is a backup option under "Options", however that is clearly not the best solution... I'll add it to the list of features to add! Sorry for the very late response, I've been pretty busy!

it would be fantastic to implement a filter in "show words with this kanji" that limits results to ones that only utilize kanji mastered (or working on mastering!) for more tailored results!! thank you so much for your work on this app! I'll keep sending feedback as i think of it!

Hmm... OK, I'll add that to the list of features to add! Sorry for the very late response, I've been kinda busy!

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for a crazy awesome J to E dictionary. The features you've added to this are fantastic. I've tried nearly all the dictionaries but this one really stands out. You must have put so much time into it. The flashcard function is also awesome! I don't have to spend time making cards for an external flascard app anymore.
Actually, I have a request. There's one dictionary I use that allows me to append notes to dictionary entries. Would that be a possibility?
Thanks,
Tim.

Hi Tim! Thanks for the kind words! You can already do this! Once you've added it to a list, just press "Customise"! This isn't possible at the moment for standard dictionary entries, but I'll look into it after I've fixed the main pressing issues at the moment. Sorry for the very late response, I've been pretty busy!

I found bug: if you want write kanji for child, you must write two strokes instead three. This bug is also at kanji for complete etc. Keep up the good work!

That's true... Many people have reported this issue and I'll try to fix it as soon as I can Yet again, sorry for the very late response, I've been really busy!

The program literally grinds to a halt on the kanji lists function. Galaxy S3

You have a very strange phone... I didn't realise they had mechanical parts. More seriously though: I'm not certain what could be causing this. I'll try to look into it I guess, but as you can guess its going to be quite difficult since I don't have an S3... Also, sorry for the very late response, I've been really busy!

we need this app but traslate on spanish pls
(Received on 2014-08-08 02:29:35)
It is not possible for me to translate the entire UI unfortunately, however it is possible to give some Spanish translations for many words. I indend to add many languages in the next update, which is why it is taking so long. Sorry for the very late response, I've been really busy!
