pretty bloody good I reckon!
Cheers!
you should update the jlpt levels. there are 5 levels now
Hey there! Thanks for letting me know. I'm aware of this issue, but as far as I know, the data I'm using to back Akebi is still using the old 4-level JLPT format. I'll have to take a closer look into getting the data from another source, but I doubt that it will make it into the next version as I am very keen to get it released as soon as I can.
It would be great if we could long press the examples and copy its text to clipboard. Also is it possible to include grammar explanation? for example the example of 食べる shows an example with 取らなければ but only explains as 取る, for beginners of japanese language they might not know what なければmeans. The example also shows 死んでしまう, would be great if can explain what んでしまう means. This is the best japanese dictionary on android so far.. thanks developer!
Hey there! Thanks for writing in. This is an interesting question because it concerns the way Akebi splits up the example sentences (which are just plain text) into multiple words. Previously, Akebi was using a custom splitting method I developed which took care of grammar patterns like this. In the new version of Akebi I've been busily working on, the sentences are split up using an algorithm developed over many years at a university in Japan. It is much more accurate, however things like "なければ" are considered their own word. So hopefully this should be fixed for you, since the dictionary contains a definition for words like "しまう" and "なければ". However, it does not define the "て" form of verbs. So perhaps that's something I can look into. Thanks!
(related to the 224 one ) Hi! Thank you for your answer. What i ment for a key was related to the radical search: if we could import one radical of the kanji into the drawing area and then complete it by writing around it would be great i think. By example, if we are looking for 誌 it would be nice to import 心 or 言 in the drawing area and draw the remainder. I don’t know if i am clear enough... Thanks anyway:)
Hi again, and sorry for the late reply. Sometimes my feedback service breaks and fails to send me an email.
That's an interesting idea you have there. But can I ask, why not just use the search by radical functionality? If you scroll to the right of the handwriting box, you can see all the radicals available, and you can pick the ones present in the kanji. Then Akebi will try to find the Kanji for you. I'm just not sure how useful it would be to be able to "import" radicals into the drawing area, since you can already use the radical search feature.
Why is the conjugation under development?
Hey there. Sorry about the conjugations being under development for so damn long. I've been very busy with adding a huge upgrade to Akebi. Hopefully it will get done soon so I can focus on adding this in. The purpose of saying "In development" is so that people are aware I know that I need to add it, so they don't submit it here ;) Thanks!
the ios app imiwa has a text analyser tool that takes text on the clipboard and gives the hiragana reading as well as word analysis. i think it would be super helpful if you could add that to akebi!
Hi there! This is a feature a few others have requested. I'm not sure how much space it will require, so I think it will be an optional add-in. Luckily I've got a bit of experience with the library that drives such "sentence analysis" (MeCab) while working on this new update, so hopefully I can make it happen! Thanks!
during the tutorial I got stuck in the 'type aida in the highlighted box for me', the correct kanji came up, but for some reason it didn't jump to the next part of the tutorial. (SGS4mini)
Hmmm, odd. Sorry about that! I'll give it a look over and see if I can find out why it failed. Cheers!
Make a pro version. If you don't want, have a donation system, cuz you deserve profit. Actually... I don't care if people think you deserve or not, TAKE MY MONEY!!
Hahaha!! Thanks for the really kind words, it means a lot to me! If you wish to donate, please donate to Wikipedia, Blender.org (my favourite FOSS program) or EDRDG (the people who make the database Akebi uses). Please let me know if you do, so I can add you to the list of contributors. Thanks!!
how can i use keyboard
There should be a "change input method" option in your keyboard settings.
Hi! Mostly quite happy with the app. One thing that bugs me is that there doesn't seem to be any way to enter a single 'n' - the standard way is to use eg. 'n'i' to distinguish it from 'ni', could you fix this? :)
Huh, I've never heard of that notation before. I'll add it in, thanks!
