Happy new year! Yay! Thanks so much to all the beta testers and donations! (02/01/2021)
we should be able to choose more than one kanji when we are drawing! keep the good job fellow.
Hmmm, what do you mean by this? On all my devices, it shows many possible characters while I'm drawing. Sorry I can't help!
Hi, your app is surely one of the most advanced Kanji apps I could find... Thanks so much! I also like the great number of reference codes to look up Kanjis in dictionaries. However, I am missing one dictionary with an excellent index system, and it's the one from Hadamitzky and Spahn. Do you think that there's any chance to get the codes integrated. Is there anything that could help you to integrate it?
Hey there! I'm working on an updated dictionary at the moment, and if I recall correctly it includes some new kanji dictionary indices. Here's the list:
So it looks like it might already be incoming! Thanks for writing in!
(Related to 224 and 234 ones) Hi! thank you again for replies and hard work. Sure it can be seen as useless, but i mean for kanjis containing "featured radical " like 谷、 if we didnt memorized there is this radical and we click only on 口, it won ’t make it. Maybe it is because i don’t know very well how radicals work. I mean, doing so is cheating on Japanese but since the right way is written when the kanji is found it might not be a big deal... don’t know. anyway’ thanks again(^^)
Sorry for the very very late reply, my feedback system broke when I tried to write the character "?", so I had to fix that before I could reply properly!
I've thought about doing something like this before, but its a very low priority again. So basically you're saying that sometimes you find it frustrating searching for kanji by radical because you don't know all the radicals and so you will select 口, ハ and ? for a kanji which contains 谷 (because you didn't know that 谷 itself is a radical). But the kanji won't show up, because Akebi expects you to select 谷. So basically, you want Akebi to adjust the definitions like so:
OLD 卻 : 口 ハ 卩 谷
NEW 卻 : 口 ハ 卩 谷 ?
OLD 喰 : 口 食
NEW 喰 : 口 艮 ? 食
etc.?
great app, but i miss the audio. i would also pay for this up to 20 euro. if its too difficult to implement romaji would be also great for now
Hi there, I've had a few requests for audio, but it is a bit of a low priority at the moment. I am also unsure as to where I would find the source for the audio, so I will need to investigate it. I'm very busy with a new update at the moment, hopefully that should be released within the coming months, but it's hard to tell. The end is always in sight, but it keeps moving backwards. I've also had a few requests for romaji, but definitely less frequently than ones for audio. That's also being held up for the same reason. I'll get to them, but it'll take some time.
it's greatest app!!! thank you very much!!!
You're very welcome, thanks for saying thanks!
مرحبا بكم احبتي
(GT: Hello to you my dear ones)
I don't understand! But it sounds positive, so thanks!
(GT: أنا لا أفهم! ولكن يبدو إيجابيا، وذلك بفضل!)
Keep up the good work and thank you for the hard work.
Cheers!
瞬く(またたく) is written incorrectly in this app as めたたく.
Hi there! At the moment, I'm making a new dictionary upgrade to Akebi. This is fixed there, but it also lists "めたたく" as an alternate reading. Thanks!
Hi, first of all: thanks for the great app, it's enormously helpful! Some ideas for new features:
- synchronisation between devices
- topic groups for vocabulary (like travel, renting, school etc)
- selection for test variety (right now kanji grid only displays a set amount of kanji during test training
- changeable translation order (now one has to delete a meaning to get the other displayed in the tests) so far my thoughts
Might not be viable but I still have the program Anki 1 in mind which had a few handy features (like flexible study lessons alongs tags without creating a new staple of kanji etc). All in all your app is a great dictionary!
Hey there, thanks for all the great ideas. At the moment, I'm really focusing on getting the new dictionary upgrade done, so I'll come back to these ideas at a later stage when I can actually consider implementing them. But all in all, they sound like good ideas. I just need the time to put them in ;)
I like the kanji grid, though I don't know how you can learn with it without already having learned the kanji somewhere else. I'd like a funktion for the grid in which you have the stroke order displayed and have to copy it (also with information like meaning) and then later take the test like the one implemented right now. also I'd like to know if there already is a way to learn stroke order with your app. if there isn't I'd like that implemented aswell. (if you happen to know another app for these purposes please tell me about them if it's not a bother)
Hey there, sorry about the long wait for a response, my feedback system broke down. Anyways, thanks for writing in. There is a way to see stroke order information in my app: just go to the search menu and paste any kanji you want to look at into the search bar. Next, press on the kanji in the tabs below the search box in the action bar. You should see a green box with the Kanji in it. You've probably seen it kicking around before. Now just press the "..." option, and select "Show Stroke Order".
I'll take another look at your other ideas at another stage: right now I need to focus on getting the current massive dictionary upgrade that I'm working on done.
