Akebi Feedback #437

Great Application, simply awesome‼ Also if you could add the audio, or proverbs it would be more wonderful.. thank you..

A few people have requested audio, but I'm really really busy with lots of different things I have to do first. As for proverbs, that's probably the first time I've heard that. If a few more people request it I'll consider looking into it. Anyways, thanks for the positive feedback!

Thank you so much for developing this awesome app and making it off-line and add-free. The most useful and nice looking japanese dictionary app I've ever come across. Keep it up!

Can you add a black theme for late night studies or even better customizable themes. Thanks for this great app (^^)/

Thanks! I've had a few people ask for this, so I've kept it in mind while programming the beta version of Akebi (that you're using, thanks so much!) so that I can make it happen with ease later. Hope to get around to it soon.

Akebi Feedback #430

Hi! This is really a very helpful app and I finally figured out how to use the Akebi keyboard. I have a question about the keyboard, how do I type the small tsu? Thank you!
(Received on 2016-02-10 13:09:18)

Hey! Try typing the first consonant twice. Like "ttsu". I double checked the code, and I'm afraid there's no other way. Thanks!

make akebi can find 2 type character in 1 time. example, 宿だい[宿題]、せ界[世界]。

Hi there! This is actually a really tough problem for pretty little reward. Consider the word "今日”. Its not possible to say if its [きょ, う] == [今, 日] or [き, ょう] == [今, 日]. I made a fairly shitty algorithm to try and figure these things out by cross-referencing the Hiragana with the Kanji in a variety of words, and I noticed that there were many little things that needed to be taken care of. On top of all this, performing such a search quickly could be quite a pain. Anyways, something to maybe look at in the future. Thanks!

Akebi Feedback #428

Greetings 先生、 I installed your app some time ago, but only recently started to use it in earnest. I gotta say that I treasure it more and more each time I use it. A recent feature that I just noticed and love is how Akebi uses "tabs". Testing a Kanji, looks up words that use it, notice an interesting kanji, open up that kanji, look up words that use THAT kanji, and then press the back arrow to close tabs and trace back your journey to resume your kanji quiz. Awesome. You asked for advice on what to add next, and I thought it would be good to flesh out the Kanji practice writing. Wouldn't it be useful if Akebi could also grade your stroke order? I know that stroke order is important and some times just needs practice (like 右vs左). Another way Akebi's Kanji practice could be fleshed out is to present only part of the kanji info. Just the meaning, or just the On-yomi and Kun-yomi readings. It would really make one learn all aspects of the Kanji in depth. Once again, many thanks for the Akebi app, it is a very awesome tool. Keep up the great work! -Roman

Hey Roman!

  • I'm glad you like the design of Akebi, it makes me really happy to hear that!
  • As for stroke order, I think the best way forward here is to make a template slowly appear as you draw strokes. You've probably seen it in a variety of other apps, but I haven't really poured a lot of time into Akebi's kanji set features so I haven't been able to get around to that yet.
  • With regards to selecting only specific information to show during the kanji set test, that sounds like a cool idea, thanks! I'll keep it in mind for sure.

Thanks!
